Do you think Captain Miller made the right decision in attacking the radar station? Why or why not?3/9/2016

He did because he wanted to make sure that other soldiers would not get hurt.Instead only one was hurt at the end instead of many being hurt

True Hunter. If he just left the radar station with out telling other troops there would have probably been an ambush and kill even more. But if he just went around the station he would still have his medic that he might need in a later stage of the mission. What do you think if I hey went around and got a flanking position then going head on up the mountain. From th the looks of it there was not many Nazis in the radar station so if they got a flanking position on them they could have saved all there men with out getting hurt. But things happen in war. Maybe they all would have died. But I agree on taking the radar station was a good idea.

But why would he risk his life and the lives of his men, when it could not only put the mission at stake but the lives of his men too? He lost a man in the attack and that man was very valuable since he was a medic. His company even disagreed and suggested going around.

I agree because of how the big goal is to win the war. Just like the captain said that they are here to win the war. It would also make sense because of how they would be able to save more people than the number of people being at risk. The captain might also feel entitled to saving other soldiers.

Yes and no. Yes because he wanted to stop the war. No because the medic died also no because the soldiers said that was not a good idea.

I agree with hunter. But it also was helping kill more so that they could get closer to winning the war. And help other soldiers in the future so that when they come through that area.

I djust not think it was the right thing to do because they where on one mission and that was to get private Ryan home not to go attack.

ok tajay but what if you have to go through obstacles to save someone its not like he is just gonna pop up and they can go home , you have to do whatever you have to do to save someone , so actually it was the best idea because they are trying there best to save Private Ryan

I think Captian Miller made the right decision of attacking the radar station because like Hunter said it was to help so other soldiers didn't get hurt. Captian Miller specifically said also that if they didn't take it out another group may be ambushed by it and get killed. Also he mentions that attacking the radar station is something that will help them win the war.

I believe that in his mind it was the right thing to do. so he could save the lives of many other that come in the path of that radar station but in that same act he put his original task add to the side. He lost one of his men because of what he felt was right. So he might have done the right thing for the troop that come there next but as in the present he has lost one of his own.

I agree with Ryan, because if miller's squad didn't take out the radar station troops then who would? This attack on the station creates a clear path Inland for all of the passing squads that might not of seen the troops hiding in the radar station. So in other words the attack on the radar station saved passing troop's lives

I think that he made the correct decision because, while he lost the life of one of his soldiers he saved the other infantry units from the trouble of having to take out the radar station.

I think that he did what he thought was his duty to the war. There is many ways he could have done things but he decided to attack the radar station. I could tell he didn't really want to sacrifice his men, especially since they are on a completely different mission, but he thought about the many other soldiers who would pass through and he didn't want them to have a certain fate they shouldn't have.

I do think he made the right decision. By attacking the radar station captain Hill puts his men in extreme danger in an attempt to save many others. I think this goes back to his speech about how if one of his men dies then he would have saved the lives of many.

There is a reason that he sacrificed his men to save the lives of the future groups of soldiers, he lost one life but may have saved 20 from being shot. Can't medics always be replaced? The soldiers can send in extra help if they absolutely need it, and people coming in to help wont have to worry about that radar station attacking them

Yes because like he stated in the movie. It was their objective to win the war and that means that if there are still German soldiers that are willing to fight and attack allied soldiers then the war would still be going so they would have to try their hardest to eliminate those soldiers any chance they got.

I completely agree with all of these comments, captain Miller made the right decision by using his men to most likely save the next unit that would have patrolled the station. Captain Miller knew the chances of losing one of his men were somewhat small, but if another unit walked by they would be been ambushed and all killed. This made it the right decision to do because he knew he saved some other men.

I think he made the wrong decision because he risked his own squads lives, and one of them died. But in the start of the movie the Captain told Carpozo not to get the little girl and stick to the mission. By the captain going for the radar station he's not sticking to the mission which is very ironic. Comments are closed.
